A breast prosthesis is an external breast form that restores symmetry and confidence. It can also help with posture and balance, especially after a mastectomy.
2. When can I get fitted for a prosthesis or mastectomy bra?
Fitting typically begins 6–8 weeks after surgery, once healing is complete. Our certified fitters will guide you through the process with care and expertise.
3. What types of breast prostheses are available?
We offer:
– Silicone forms for a natural feel and weight
– Lightweight foam or fiberfill forms for post-surgery or active wear
– Attachable forms for secure placement
– Partial forms to enhance volume or symmetry
4. What is a mastectomy bra, and how is it different from a regular bra?
Mastectomy bras feature built-in pockets to hold breast forms securely. They’re designed for comfort, support, and a natural silhouette. We can also modify your favorite bras or swimwear.
5. Can a prosthesis match my remaining breast after a single mastectomy?
Yes. We offer customized options to match size, shape, and skin tone, including realistic nipple and areola details.
6. Do I need a prescription for a prosthesis or mastectomy bra?
Yes. A prescription from your healthcare provider is required for insurance reimbursement. Most plans cover part or all of the cost. Renova By Design will soon
accept most insurance providers to cover mastectomy products. We’ll be able to assist you in understanding your coverage, submitting claims, and handling all the paperwork in the future.
7. How do I care for my breast prosthesis?
Clean silicone forms daily with mild soap and water. We highly recommend using your
Amoena Soft Cleanser and soft brush. Store them in their original case.
8. What should I expect during a fitting at ReNova by Design?
